Nowadays, dentistry tends towards minimal dental preparation. This trend is even more pronounced when it comes to aesthetic treatment. Patients request for aesthetic treatments without any dental preparation. One of the most conservative ways to solve this situations is with direct composite resins, what permits enheancing the patient’s smile in a non-invasive approach but, to master direct composites is a challenging process that requires training and experience.
Biomimetic dentistry calls for to focus on details in order to replicate nature, not only in optical considerations, but also in the funtion of the natural teeth. Consequently, a posible definition of biomimetic dentistry could be: The recovery of the natural teeth anatomy in a minimally invasive approach, protecting the remnant tooth structure in order to reproduce natural aesthetics and function.
To perform a meticulous case planning and a working protocol is essential for obtaining predictable results and long-lasting treatments. An acurate planification will lead to achieve excellence in a direct anterior composites approach. This course is designed with the purpouse to show how to accomplish natural-like aesthetic results and long-lasting treatments on the anterior teeth area, describing the key points for obtaining excellence in anterior composites through a biomimetic and non-invasive approach.

Minimally invasive aesthetic and restorative dentistry from Barcelona. With 18 years of experience in dentistry (Universitat Internacional de Catalunya 2001-2006), performing clinical practice as a specialist in minimally invasive aesthetic and restorative dentistry at the Barcelona Dental Institute by Padrós. Exclusively performing aesthetic conservative treatments on the anterior teeth area by using a direct approach with composite resins.
International lecturer, performing lectures for different countries around the world such as Switzerland, Lithuania, Spain, Denmark, England, Scotland, Portugal, Japan, Brasil. Professor at the “Master en Estética y Rehabilitacion Oral” of the Barcelona Dental Institute by Padrós and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Professor at the “Postgrado en Estética Dental Avanzada” of the SCOE.
Scientific articles and collaborations in the literatura, with different articles written for international and national scientific magazines. Also collaborating in a chapter of the book “Direct, facetas em resinas compostas”, about direct anterior composites, written by Dr Rafael Calixto and Dr Jorge Eustaquio (Santos Publicações).
Member of Bio-Emulation. Bio-Emulation is an international group of reputable dentists, initiated in 2008 as a think tank, to dismiss dogmas in dentistry and to find optimization in emulating nature in restorative techniques.
