2-day Course
May 21 & 22, 2026
Overview
This intensive and highly practical course is designed to delve into the control of the optical properties of restorations through staining and micro-layering techniques, following the biomimetic principles promoted by Bio-Emulation.
Over the course of two days, participants will learn to interpret and reproduce the optical effects present in natural teeth—color, value, translucency, fluorescence, and texture—through clinical and laboratory protocols that improve the aesthetic integration of restorations.
Each day will begin with a theoretical session dedicated to understanding the optical properties of dental tissues and the appropriate selection of materials, establishing the foundations for the practical sessions.
Course Program
Day 1 ✦ Thursday 21 May 2026 ✦ 10.00 am to 7.30 pm
Composite Resins
In the morning, participants will practise techniques for applying make-up to resin and light-curing glaze, with a focus on modifying and optimising the visual appearance of restorations. In the afternoon, participants will carry out micro-layering exercises using composite resins, followed by polishing and surface texturing protocols to achieve more natural-looking and biomimetic restorations
Day 2 ✦ Friday 22 May 2026 ✦ 9.00 am to 6.30 pm
Ceramics
The second day will focus on the application of ceramic layering and glazing techniques, providing an understanding of how to adjust the optical properties of ceramic restorations. The afternoon session will include exercises in ceramic micro-layering, alongside polishing and texturing techniques, aimed at accurately reproducing the morphology and microtexture of natural enamel.
The aim of the course is to provide clinicians and technicians with practical tools for controlling the light and optical properties of their restorations, thereby improving their aesthetic integration through protocols based on the observation and replication of nature.
